Brian is a leading expert in the development of IP portfolios with respect to the encoding and distribution of audio and video content. Over the years, Brian has collaborated with developers of consumer focused technologies licensed into over a billion consumer electronic products and makers of exclusive high end professional audio equipment. Before pursuing a profession in law, Brian had the opportunity to utilize the computer engineering degree that he obtained from the University of Pennsylvania as an engineer with AT&T. Brian’s expertise currently extends to all aspects of content distribution from codecs, containers, encryption, rights management, and streaming.
Bringing a unique design sensibility to his work, Brian specializes in capturing both deeply technical aspects of the products on which he works and the mechanical and design elements that make the products iconic. Accordingly, Brian is widely recognized for his ability to craft IP strategies involving both utility and design patent applications and has pioneered utilizing design patents in the protection of consumer electronics user interfaces. Brian brings a strong analytical ability and adaptability to every aspect of client counseling to pursue effective patent strategies that achieve meaningful outcomes for his clients.
